What could possibly go wrong…?

Please do - the language around architecture is shallow, technocratic, inward looking and means little to anyone not already invested. It’s also remained static while not just the profession but world has changed inexorably around it. We need to expand the critical field not just reboot it.

I’m not sure I answered all the questions fully, but I certainly enjoyed grappling with them.

What is architecture and who is it for? Why a film about architecture and why now? Who is the film for? Who gets to decide what legacy actually means (spoiler, it’s not the architect)?

My other favourite is the cordless kettle sitting on the kitchen counter (always Alessi or Smeg) without its charging stand and very untidy cable.

Free museums and galleries are a marvel.

Indeed, using an fundamentally backward looking technology to imagine the future is something of a paradox. The question of value, as you say, doesn’t seem to have entered into it.

Either that or outsourced it to the writers of Mountainhead.

We don’t want to end up in a position where the only people who become architects are those with the wealth and wherewithal to go the distance. The ARB needs to do more on apprenticeships and keep on evolving the accreditation process / criteria.

Correct. This does get more complicated when you consider how long and expensive the qualification process is and how relatively poorly paid entry level positions are.
