I guess the point is the last time it was like this was the 1960s and 1970s, which was also a period of structural crisis in U.K. politics.

How many times are we gonna say that though? In the last two decades we haven’t had a PM who has lasted for two full terms. They either lose the election or get deposed by their own party first.
