Hello BlueSky!

I’m so excited to join this growing community of ethologists! I’m a PhD candidate at Tulane, studying vocal communication and dominance in white-faced capuchins.

I’m off to the field next week, but for now, a cautious encounter between a capuchin and Mexican hairy dwarf porcupine.

Excited to share our methods preprint on CapuchinAI! 🐒💻

We built a field touchscreen + real-time facial recognition system (YOLOv7) that lets wild capuchins “log in” and complete individualized cognitive tasks.

So fun to present my research to two classes of @tulaneu.bsky.social students about my journey into primatology and my current research using thermal camera to understand stress in great apes 📸🐵 Thank you so much to my dear friend @nickchapoy.bsky.social for inviting me!

Our new paper, led by Nicolas Chapoy and Kathy Jack, shows capuchin alpha males have wider faces and bigger balls. Read on for discussion of trait variation with respect to pre- and post- mating competition! Was a large effort by a great team 😍😎🎉

Ran into our old friend Greg while searching for monkeys- it’s good to be home in Santa Rosa! 🐒🌳

I’ve also had a less welcomed reunion with the local chiggers. Any pro tips to stop the itching? 🙏🏼
