What is it about twitter that makes it so addicting for people? (Genuinely curious/ignorant--the consensus seems to be that a lot of smart and/or powerful people are addicted to it, but I've never used it so I don't understand why)

The long term medicine is to actively cultivate in person interaction and community as a specific priority. A short term medicine is just going for a stroll (if the compile time is >10-15). I find literally just leaving the house surprisingly refreshing for my perspective.

Not applied, and but Boas' "Mathematical methods in the physical sciences" was a great book for introducing me to a range of math.

Are you more of an algebrist or analyst? In the classical tradition of trying to inaccurately categorize people, I feel like this might be closer to the innate difference. I hypothesize analysts like physical intuition more and algebrists like formal intuition more.

I'm not sure that this is the foundation of my intuition, as you say, but constructing careful definitions is either the first or second step in any math I try. The other option being trying to do a bunch of slightly handwavy calculations to seek a pattern.

In my case, if I exhibit your proposed preference, I developed it in my math education. I started from physics, and found that I quite liked the confidence that resulted from the careful understanding of definitions and theorems, so I don't feel grounded now without careful definitions.

The only semi-direct claims I've seen of what you say is Krugman's explanation for leaving the NYT, which alleged a culture of caution, or maybe stodginess, without describing an overt right wing bias. Could you point me to what I'm missing?

I admit I don't actually consume that much of it (I'm not subscribed), but I would be interested to know why people think this of e.g. the NYT. The little I do consume (occasional articles, podcasts, etc.) does seem to be clear in its liberal preferences. Is their non-opinion coverage worse?
