I’ve never seen this example. However, in Europe nobody behind a cash desk expects a tip. The US request for tipping a cashier when buying a $2 dollar bottle of water just because they asked if you had a good day is ridiculous.

I found it odd that every store I entered in California, DC & New York had staff insisting I tell them how I was doing on that day at that precise moment? We visited America in the summer from the UK and whilst I delighted in the charm of it when in Disneyland, I don’t need it in 7/11 or Target.
