Folks, I’ve officially made it - I’ve been followed by the New York State grid operator NYISO. You know, only the team that keeps the lights on for the biggest city in the nation! I try not to let the electricity go to my head. Let me know if you do control room tours @nyiso.com ⚡️⚡️⚡️ #energysky

lol you know you’re too deep on the grid when the targeted LinkedIn transformer ads start coming #energysky

Good reminder of where most US electricity comes from today, Hay Road Gas Power Plant in Delaware has 6 Siemens Gas Turbines and 2 GE Steam Turbines for a total nameplate capacity of 1,193 MW

It doesn’t get enough press that authoritarian manufacturing superpower has built a complete monopoly across the critical energy inputs needed to win the century while we’ve mostly twiddled our thumbs and shipped ad-tech. Democratic-aligned countries should LOOSE money to re-shore this #energysky

I didn’t realize that the United States is still the largest oil consumer on earth and just how much higher our consumption is compared to other countries. China only now reaching our level of consumption and they have 4x as many people 😮 #energysky #greensky

Every single state in the sun belt should be figuring out how to replicate the ingredients to the massive solar boom in Texas. Makes every other state look like a chump. #energysky #greensky

Glad to see that gravity still exists and we’re expanding transformer manufacturing to meet demand. We’ll need them! #energysky #greensky

New nuclear power in the US and Europe since 2000 have been an average of 8 years late and 2.5x over budget. This would need to be solved if we’re ever hoping to replace gas/coal with nuclear for Baseload. Last year coal was still the third largest electricity generation source in the USA #energysky

Build large scale new clean generation FAST. Get it online! Build it big! Only new generation can solve this problem and get the coal offline while containing price increases. Look at the size of this solar in Virginia, 500 MW and we have 25 GW of coal to replace while meeting load growth!

As I’ve learned more about the global energy system, I’ve become quite pro nuclear. A small amount of radioactive waste sitting in concrete is a bargain for 24/7 ZERO EMISSIONS power that can be sited anywhere. Unsolved problem is runaway project costs and timelines. Good news out of SC #energysky

Just visited Brandon Shores for the first time, it’s a 1370 MW coal-fired power plant just south of Baltimore. When it’s this cold outside it really hits home how reliant our whole world still is on fossil fuels for heat and light. Good article: www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...

This deck is excellent, it shows how the US Northeast has the lowest renewables penetration of anywhere in the country. Even though it’s a more liberal part of the county, there’s not much sun and wind potential. Without mega-transmission I believe we will need nuclear and geothermal⚡️

EV ownership is still near impossible for renters like me. 15 min walk to the nearest charger & leave car overnight. They randomly switched to a new platform called SWTCH, I had to make a whole new account at 11 pm. Only crazy people like me would pick this experience over a gas station. #energysky

Maryland Office of People’s Council illustrates how a combination of unprecedentedly high capacity prices and the interconnection queue have created a nightmare.Electricity prices go way up while the coal fired power plants stay online until 2028! Yuck! opc.maryland.gov/Portals/0/Fi...
