Elections. Like a free buffet when the fruit is rotting, the meat is maggot ridden, and the veg is radioactive. Or choosing a cubicle at a public toilet at 3am after the world cup final on a ferry in a storm during an e. Coli outbreak.

So much is being asked in memory of one individual over so many others who were so much braver and bigger. There are so many to mourn. It is simply wrong to demand mourning of anyone, let alone someone who thrived on spreading hatred.

Such intelligence. How they struggled to express ideas that cannot and should not be summed up in a sentence. How they listened, kept their beliefs and questioned details. This dialog makes our modern debate look sadly unsophisticated. Both, such giants. Modest giants.

Penance? Forgiveness? Recovery? A beautiful film. Just watched it for the first time in over 30 years. Harry Dean Staunton is so touching. Beautiful broken people putting the pieces back together. Bells and belts and messed up love. Wim Wenders wonder.
