Their job is to protect property and capital. Supreme court ruled years ago that cops have zero responsibility to protect the public. The case was about a cop who just watched someone die and didn't try to help. Protect and serve is just a motto.

I've been left of Bernie since before I went to Vermont in the 80's to apply at a college and learned about this controversial mayor. I assume Newsom will be the nominee. He looks the part. I will vote for him. The historical backash to fascism is socialism but I doubt we'll get it on the first try.

Just googled. Named after Lewis Cass. I gave my dad (also Cass) his biography many years ago, he gave it back before he died. I need to read it.
