i know in NJ we have NJTransit routes operated by private bus carriers (CoachUSA, Academy, and the like), it’s probably something akin to that

i also could see the pushing of these country nights as a way of pushing out a “rougher crowd” (i remember when i worked at the point pleasant boardwalk in summer 2020 there being a clientele difference)

i think a big thing was NYC getting country radio about 10 years ago, also assortive matching re frat culture and people from NJ going to southern colleges and then bringing that culture home with them when they come to the shore for the summer
