I make entropy go up in some places to make it go down in others. Passionate about communities and #dataBS.

Python/Java performance engineer @Snowflake.
Sponsorships @PyConAU.

I don't usually speak for PyCon AU and I never speak for Snowflake.
If someone did this to me I'm not sure I'd react well. Joey doesn't share food!

Without providing legal advice on BS that I'm not qualified enough to give, let's just say that "rando on Facebook" probably isn't qualified either.

This is a good overview of the situation by actual lawyers (probably): stacklaw.com.au/news/busines...
Who owns images on social media?
While the Copyright Act 1968 applies to images on social media, many social media platforms have terms allowing them to use your images.

I would have to go back and re-read the whole watch series (oh no!) to check which ones taught me what, but the Pratchett book I know influenced me is Making Money (I guess also Going Postal). Changed the way I think about economics and the world. Sir Terry was done being subtle by that point!

Louder for those in the back!

Tools are great in some cases but there's a significant number for which the default setting is "aimed at foot" if you don't actually know or apply the foundational principles they're assuming.

Also, it was great to see you there! I can't wait to check out the recording, I was triple booked in that slot 😓

For what it's worth, that QR Code is specially formulated to be pretty much entirely useless to almost anyone except me 😎. Had to explain to our rego desk why we printed a QR code on our badges that never seemed to work...

Is this why enterprise-y antivirus/backup/endpoint security feels so bad on MacOS? I only use a Mac for work - when I hear others talk about them and compare it to my experience, I get a total Homer Simpson "why doesn't mine look like that" moment.
