That's one way that has been done... I wouldn't do anything that requires wires. I would design a PCB with any circuitry that is needed to mux the signals. Microcontrollers are incredibly cheap these days, some as little as 25 cents or less. At that price, you can have a uC on every button.

I'm used to playing a chromatic accordion with a really fast and soft touch. I just can't compare it to a computer keyboard switch. I haven't given up on creating my own switches, but probably need to make some measurements first.

Looks like he's already dead, set up as drone bait.

My Dad's old midi (piano) accordion had silver bus wires that got shorted by the key press. It adds some pressure to the touch, but not too bad. I was just thinking about switch designs yesterday... This is my first day on BlueSky, and you're already inspiring me to try again with a keyboard design!

I had an app once that would turn the rows of a computer keyboard into a chromatic accordion. I could turn it sideways and play it, but the action was slow and it only had about 2 octaves of usable buttons. The Cherry switches are slow and just on/off, no touch info.

In Trump's first term, he embolded leaders in Turkey, Hungary, a couple in South America, a couple in Asia and Africa (not to mention supporting Putin and Xi). When the US stops promoting democracy and human rights, the worst of the world follow.

But then again, I've been thinking for a long time about building a chromatic midi keyboard, and have always been stymied by the mechanical issues (I'm an electrical engineer and chromatic accordionist). Haven't tried printing mechanical parts yet.

Some just have round posts instead of the screw. I suppose you could heat up a philips screw driver and melt the cherry cross into it.

Try some of the accordion manufacturers in Italy. Chromatic accordions have some very nice mother of pearl or hard plastic buttons.
