I think it was a tough call and both were deserving. If I had a vote I probably would have gone with Raleigh for the reason you mentioned in the column. Extra credit for amazing stats and with the wear and tear a catcher endures. All that said it was a tough choice as the 17-13 votes showed that.

I liked reading about the conversation the Sox had with Mayer about staying healthy for a whole season. Hopefully they can resign Bregman as I like the idea of a Bregman, Story, and Mayer infield. Question is Who’s on first? Yes I laughed as I typed that but it is a legit question.

I used to enjoy Vegas but then it just got too pricey. That said hope you have a good time out there.

What are the worthwhile 3B options if they cannot resign Bregman? Mayer looked good filling in while Bregman was hurt but he is an injury risk. I believe every year as a pro he’s missed time with injuries.

If by chance they get priced out would they go after Suarez or maybe slide Mayer into 3B. I like Mayer as he is a good fielder and hopefully the bat comes around but the injury risk with him is always there.

Scherzer would walk out to right field with the Darth Vader tune playing.

Priority is team first and I’d be surprised if Kershaw had an issue with it.

Baseball needs a salary ceiling and a salary basement. It’s beyond ridiculous what these players are being paid and on the other side you have teams that are outright cheap.

This was a great piece. Especially enjoyed reading about Betts. I am curious about one thing. I know Betts bowled a perfect 300 game. I think he golfs and am curious if he’s had a hole in one. To me it’s rare to see someone have both. Then add to that his MVP, WS ring, GG and SS. Quite the athlete.
