All realistic terraforming schemes ignore the need and/or desirability of an inert gas to avoid having a pure oxygen atmosphere. Very little nitrogen on Mars. Some ideas will forever remain science fiction.

IMO the emergence of electronic and broadcast mass media separates the modern era from everything before - mid 20th century basically. Everything that is technologically advanced now is just fancier versions of things from that era. 1981 seems more modern to 2025 eyes than 1936 seemed to 1981 eyes.
