I've never been an espresso guy, and I was actually craving drip coffee in Italy, tbh. But having a €1.20 cappuccino every single morning in Rome changed my mind. I miss it so much that I'm finally buying an espresso machine this Black Friday.

David, not the racist one. Just kidding. This one might have been, too. 😜

I’m in Italy. The Americans are typically loud and annoying. I knew it, but still.

As a Japanese who whines about tiny kanji shape differences between Japanese and Chinese, I should never complain about '١' vs. '۱', right? 🤯

When software engineers are vibe coding more these days, why do people even bother programming on Shortcut? Apple is totally out of touch.

My wife's friend in Japan sent her a package with gifts worth ¥33,270. UPS charged me $331 and only took a check. That's over 100% in goddamn tariffs, which seems way off. Could they have mixed up JPY and USD?

Our experiences over the past 3 years suggest it may be valuable to understand these attacks on science as extensions of the Big Lie (of election fraud), Covid denialism, & Jim Crow 2.0 — part of a collective effort to bend reality, science & values to align with the central fantasies of Trumpism.

What DOGE actually revealed, with its utter failure to find any significant instances of waste, fraud, or inefficiency is that--notwithstanding Musk and Trump's lies to the contrary-- the Social Security system and other programs they attacked are remarkably efficient in allocating public goods.

Last Friday, I joined a podcast #rebuildfm on my personal laptop in the bedroom. Yesterday (Tuesday), I hosted a zoom meeting on my work laptop in the living room. Today (Wednesday), the Tuesday's zoom meeting emailed me a summary of the Friday's podcast. How the heck is this even possible?

Chase.app worked fine for years, then suddenly demanded my driver's license to log in. I refused & deleted the app. Tried chase.com, they asked me to call. So, I called, and they said I must install the app or visit a branch. I can still login on my laptop, but no longer on my iPhone. How stupid.

Just finished the yearly "Data Security Compliance Training". I always thought it would be boring and useless, but now I'm very confident that I won't accidentally invite a journalist to my secret group chat.

If you are visiting the United States, having a negative view of Trump is enough to get you denied entry.
If this was coming out of Russia or China, we would deplore such an authoritarian attack on freedom of expression.
