It also varies so much depending on how much support (and what type) someone has. My spouse is very flexible so is able to pick up my slack when needed. This would be way harder if he had an inflexible job, if we lived really far from family, or if we didn’t have a good support system.

Being a parent helps in a lot of ways- gives you new perspectives on your work, creates some built in boundaries, forces you to be more efficient. But it also means your time is extremely limited. There’s very little time that I’m not working or parenting.
