Today I am thinking about the third Timothy Dalton James Bond movie that was marketed at the Carlton Hotel in Cannes but was ultimately never released #filmsky

Me moving a paragraph that I am deleting into another document in case I need it (I didn't need it but me and that paragraph spent many weeks together and I cannot bear to just let it disappear into the ether):
The whole point of being an academic is that you need to be willing to spend three days creating a 700-word footnote that you will later delete. And you need to LIKE IT.

You guys, it finally happened. An app finally gave me a wrapped that I not only care about, but also didn't feel like a misrepresentation of me? Groundbreaking, I am used to apps refusing to roll out features that I would enjoy, so I am delighted by this outcome.

My 2026 watchlist includes films in the World of Film textbook that I pinched from one of my sisters, a few new releases and a revisit of films that I am making video essays on. Will I finish the project of watching every James Bond film, which I informally started last year? Perhaps. #filmsky

Starting to work on my watchlist and reading list for 2026... I cannot believe that this year ran away from me like this... #filmsky #booksky

I have been delving into old-ish culture podcasts, and there was so much incredible commentary and criticism of film in the 2010s. From how films can illicit feelings like desire, to the history of films, to lost media etc. We were so spoiled for choice, I hope we see a resurgence of them #filmsky

Realising I didn't name who was heading Universal in the late 1800s in my youtube video that I already uploaded and already has views. Hope my extensive research and graphics makes this oversight forgivable🫠

I had the privilege to ask some questions of @rfkuang.bsky.social at Richland Library for our Off Book series. I particularly love the answer about how different languages mark the passing with time. youtu.be/DDeBqV-U0V8?...

Just finished Babel by R.F. Kuang and I am forever transformed and telling everyone that I know about it. THIS is the kind of writing that made me fall in love with books in the first place and I am going to think about this book for the rest of my life.

Didn't post film stills yesterday so today was a great excuse to talk about two (2) sports films with drastically different vibes😂 "It's terrible. Drives like a pig!" versus "Jess... I'm Irish". The sports film genre contains multitudes I tell you #filmsky

People in F1 don't want you to know about the parallels between James Hunt and Lewis Hamilton because they don't want you to realize that Lewis Hamilton is James Hunt's heir apparent. In this essay, I will-

Since starting this thread, I have realised that the narrative style and focus of 2020s cinema has begun emerging; voyeurism and celebrity, clothes as social language, fashion as academic exploration (Miu Miu bookstore & downloadable feminist literature, anyone?), class-it’s all there. #filmsky

I, too, am writing about bluesky. Whether anyone will see it is a different matter entirely. Here is a visual representation of my current draft in content and in tone (I will not tell you which is which):

Everybody forgot that M. Night Shyamalan directed one of Dave Bautista's (and Rupert Grint's) most fascinating performances in this movie before the Josh Hartnettsance of Trap (2024). Don't worry Mr Shyamalan, I saw your film interrogating free will, faith and sacrifice through horror! #filmsky
