I just picked this book up from our library today. In Florida...in a red county. Here's the proof:

This hits me so hard. Cancer is insidious, but childhood cancer is particularly devastating. Without research, lives are cut short. I think about this EVERY SINGLE DAY and thank those who came up with the drug that saved my granddaughter's leg. The face of a clinical trial's success:

Absolutely gutted. We said goodbye to 19 year old Ebony last night. It hurts like crazy.

This is my granddaughter when she was a toddler. The drs at Nemours had just removed a cancerous tumor in her leg. She was enrolled in a clinical trial for a cancer med. It shrunk and killed the tumor and was approved by the FDA thanks in part to her participation. She's now 7 & healthy.
