While biking yesterday, we saw this tiny baby turtle crossing the paved path. We stopped and made sure it reached the underbrush on the other side. #turtles

Oh my god! This is one of the most powerful speeches I've heard, right up there with Corey Booker's commencement speech at my daughter's college graduation!
If you need some inspiration about effecting change, please watch.

Many writers have retold the Jane Eyre story, but you may not have seen my favorite #JaneEyre tribute.

“Air Jane” is a colorful, vibrant, hilarious — and surprisingly faithful — comic-style tale of Jane as a basketball-crazy, wisecracking governess. See it here:

1) Whether intentional or a mistake, this is horrific.
2) If you discuss this, please note that the headline gets the museum name wrong. It's the Freedom Rides Museum, not Riders.
3) Like most historic sites, this is a driver for tourism business. (Also, my business; the gift shop carries my books.)

Could have found my way around Hobbiton even without the tour guide. #LOTR #Tolkien

Got to visit Hobbiton recently! Cool to see and even explore hobbit holes.

At one point, the tour guide showed the group a door and said, “Lobelia Sackville-Baggins lived here. Let’s boo her!” Once the booing had ended, I loudly declared “Lobelia redeemed herself in the book!” Silence. #Tolkien

My decades-ago students have long forgotten any math I taught them.

But I’ve discovered that they still remember my goofiness, like when I would dismiss class by saying “Calc you later!”

One of the most bizarre, anachronistic words in common use is “o’clock”.

I don’t glance at my wrist and say “It’s seven o’watch.”

Good news: my chess.com blitz rating has somehow gone barely above 2400 (higher than it should be).

Bad news: this means I can never play blitz there again.

Final tally of songs I knew in the #XPNcountdown:

800s - 2
700s - 8
600s - 8
500s - 5
400s - 3
300s - 9
200s - 14
100s - 10
0-100 - 32!

So I do know more than a little music after all! 🙂 But there’s lots to learn!

Thanks to XPN for a great countdown, which has inspired me to listen more often! 📻🎶

Just about there on the #XPNcountdown. And the number of songs I know is trending back down:

800s - 2
700s - 8
600s - 8
500s - 5
400s - 3
300s - 9
200s - 14
100s - 10

The 200s were a sweet spot for top-40 songs that I knew without having heard them on XPN.

Will the final hundred trend back up?

Updated tally of songs I’ve known in the #XPNcountdown:

800s - 2
700s - 8
600s - 8
500s - 5
400s - 3
300s - 9
200s - 14

Ah, now things are getting more familiar. And though the latest songs I knew were mostly pop-radio smashes, along comes Yoshimi, battling the pink robots…
