This is not good news for the American people, federal agencies, or the rule of law. I'll never understand how these actions--firing people or terminating ("reorganizing") programs--without Congressional action first are not fundamentally unconstitutional...

On Wednesday, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will have a nomination hearing for the next Director of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement. The nominee was director during the first Trump administration.

Last week, the Secretary of the US Department of the Interior issued a secretarial order to direct implementation of the EXPLORE Act, which was signed into law on 04 January and will improve recreation on federal lands. Next Interior will take a look soon. Until then:

Interior helped make for a nice weekend, including bikerafting on the Potomac River. Not only did we enjoy National Park Service lands to get out on the river, we saw numerous Bald Eagles, which were recovered from the brink of extinction by the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Thanks Interior!

The US government's obligations to Tribes has to include supporting voting rights and acting against voting discrimination...it's how issues like the water contamination at the opening of this article can be addressed.
