Stylistically, I also like that the single-breasted jackets feature a three-roll-two closure (three buttons, two for fastening, with the lapel rolling down to the center button). This is a classic American style detail, demonstrating pride in this country's history.

This oil on canvas painted at the end of the garden went through various phases. It looks interesting at this stage but went on to get stodgy and overworked. I have it in mind to attack this one again when the weather gets warmer. It's taking up space so it's that or maybe chuck it.
