I'll post about like games, movies, book, and whatnot. Also just generally fun, maybe informative, maybe niche interest posts. Basically whatever I like.

Surprised at how much I loved this movie

I feel like it would pair well with Princess Mononoke

Absolutely adore Control, I just got Levitate and the game just feels so fun to explore. The lore is bonkers and very Nightvale-coded. Jesse is a wonderful protagonist and is immediately likeable.

Y'all this game is a blast.

I nearly choked on my diet root beer because I quickly read a YouTube Short title that I thought was "Kingdom Hearts 1 was horseshit"

Turns out it just said "rough"

I absolutely would've clicked on the title I thought it had

Do yourself a favour if you like superhero comics and horror (especially body horror)

Read Poison Ivy by G. Willow Wilson

That is all

Gang, Control might be one of my favourite action horror games and it's not even close.

Nothing like watching Dracula Prince of Darkness with your 7 week old kid

Gang, my new ranking for my favourite Frankenstein films:

1. Bride of Frankenstein
2. Frankenstein (2025)
3. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994)

Which is a huge compliment because I love the Branagh version. (2025 may have the best version of the Creature though)

And yet, somehow those sketchy AI Mark Carney scam YouTube ads have returned.

Holy shit, One Battle After Another was fantastic.

Never seen a PTA movie before this, gonna have to dig in and figure out which to check out next

Watched The Hitcher (1986) the other night

It's a fever dream nightmare odyssey through the desert. Absolutely loved it and Rutger Hauer is once again, superb.

I keep on forgetting actual nursery rhymes and keep on falling back on pop hits of the 80s to get my kiddo to sleep

Ok, wow, Dispatch rules. These are some great characters

I really hope the federal NDP is paying attention to that NYC win because they have a wide open playing field at the moment if they can focus correctly

Pretty wild time in Canadian politics AND American politics.

Honestly wouldn't be opposed to the fracturing of the traditional PC wing and Reform wing as that fucked everything up in the first place.

I'm way more excited / focused on the NDP leadership race frankly

Insofar as they included elements to appeal to any one party, did the Liberals write this budget to appeal to those potential floor crossers?

On the one hand, I preordered this a month before the post-game AI usage controversy

On the other hand, they apologized quickly and patched it out

On the other other hand, the characters and story are fun, and militantly inclusive which is always welcome

I really gotta catch up. I haven't even listened to the new Little Simz or Open Mike Eagle stuff.

I am behind on current music for the most part lately but I've been distracted by grunge and post-punk but specifically Joy Division/New Order

So what I'm noticing about Nu-Grunge is the heavier influence of Alice in Chains and Soundgarden which is a welcome surprise (Return to Dust, Scarhaven, Black Sun) but with the aesthetics of 'I'm Afraid of Americans' era Trent Reznor.

Fascinating

Speaking of Crown Lands, my other recent new CanCon #music discoveries have been Tia Wood, (a while back admittedly but) Snotty Nose Rez Kids and PUP.

Just because we're in a golden age of hip hop and pop doesn't mean that cool things aren't happening in rock, you just need to dig a bit more than you used to.

In recent memory alone:
-pop punk revival
-Ghost
-Volbeat
-Nu-Grunge / grunge revival
-Crown Lands
-always more NIN
