Bulgarian government resignation actually feels like a positive for us Americans. An openly corrupt government removed from power by a historically apathetic public after an inciting event. Feels like there are some strong parallels to our situation

Going from birthright citizenship for all to limiting birthright citizenship to only the chosen would be a big step. The next step to stripping citizenship from opponents to abuse them at will is a much smaller one. The time to push back is now not tomorrow.

Whenever I see articles about JD Vance blowing up his marriage to a woman who has tirelessly supported him all to seize personal power and attempt to be the oligarchy’s chosen successor to their fall guy Trump, it baffles me that anyone still believes he’s a good man.

On the bright side of this foray into authoritarianism, the American people are waking up to the reality that real reform of institutions is necessary. After the fascists lose power, so long as the establishment doesn’t distract us, we may be in the best position ever for real change.

I remain hopeful that the American people will remember their past and save themselves. Whether through the midterms or not, I have faith in Democracy and our people. We aren’t to the state of Ukraine or Georgia quite yet. I hope we remember ourselves before open conflict breaks out

Its absolutely nuts that the “anti-war” MAGA crowd is not in outright revolt over Trump starting a war with Venezuela. Has he successfully fulfilled any promise he made them other than violent attacks on minority communities?

Exxon’s claims in its petition that being forced to make emissions disclosures violate its “first amendment rights” are completely absurd. Disclosures are a completely normal regulatory process. They are not being forced to endorse a position.

All this “definitely US written” peace plan stuff is just the worst. We could have permanently ended 1 of the 2 greatest threats to world peace by supporting Ukraine years ago. Instead the wound was left to fester and now we’re trying to beat Ukraine into submission instead for some reason

Knowing how Trump’s loyalists react to his commands, his calls for public executions of his political opponents should be taken for what they are—a threat of mob violence against dissent. We are rapidly approaching a point where Americans must learn hard lessons or accept a new and terrible fate

ICE is being used against marginalized communities and the vulnerable now. But hopefully everyone will remember that letting government thugs train by abusing marginalized people is always the dictator’s first step in destroying the rights of everyone under their power

This isn’t total collapse of opposition or anything but opposition (ex-Reps, Greens, Libertarians, Progressives, Forward, and even Dems etc.) should probably start joining hands and making plans for an opposition not built around Dem leadership. Leadership is obviously broken

So once again Dems are showing why they keep coming back to losing time and again. Dem leadership needs to grow a backbone and stand on principle or get out of the way and let a new party/leadership structure do the job that needs to be done for them. We need leaders not pushovers

On the bright side of the current situation (only anecdotal), a few people I know on the right have gradually begun to go “why won’t they release the files” and “this big government stuff seems wrong”. So maybe there’s hope in turning them away from insanity after all this

Disappearing people off the streets. Purges of military leadership. Administration calls to use “state power” to destroy opposition. Gaslighting of the public daily. State funded thugs roaming the streets and killing people for fun. We are on the edge of the collapse of democracy

Seems clear the US is on the brink of losing its democracy. But as we have seen in so many recent cases, there is a breaking point where people do finally stand up to rising dictatorship. I expect that point to come next year. I still have hope for our country to survive this.

Wonder if the National Guard troops realize they are being used to slowly implement a dictatorship in the US. Figures that would oppose it are being purged. They have learned the lesson of Ukraine and Georgia. Increase power slowly to avoid revolt. Make the people to afraid to fight back
