I love the genre, & I’ve seen a number of challenging films within it but I feel the need to push back against the impulse to turn enjoyment into a competition of who has seen the most fucked up shit. The disturbing stuff can be great, but I don’t need to recite a list of it just to prove something.

The Warning is great all the time (and they have 2 full concerts on their youtube channel). Check out Queen of the Murder Scene, Evolve, and Six Feet Deep for an over-time sample. Also K. Flay, all over the place on genre, but her MONO album is fantastic.
