Apple: We are all about privacy & security!! You are in control!!

Me: What's the distance between these 2 cities?

Apple/Siri: I NEED TO KNOW WHERE YOU LIVE!!!!

Me: ??!

Urbanism is...

taking transit & literally walking 2 blocks to Pride Night at the St. Paul Saints minor league baseball stadium.

Then having them win 5-1, and getting a double-rainbow as part of the deal!

And having local restaurant Wok in the Park make your food fresh.

Hennepin county’s nonexistent bike lanes despite France Ave being on the county’s bike plan and Edina’s and Minneapolis’s, and St. Louis Park’s

There’s the bus

Twins baseball ⚾️ transit Pride edition

No better way to get to the game than transit

This stop goes away when the 6 bus becomes the E Line aBRT, but it’s worth the small sacrifice

Had great community engagement with residents, staff, & consultants (Mend Collaborative) for Edina’s latest small area plan (SAP).

Included a 1.5 hr walk thru of the Lincoln & Londonderry Drives area, east of Hwy 169 (across from United Health campus).

Nine Mile Creek Trail is universally loved!

Sounds like a bunch of tech bros from the ride sharing industry

Happy Earth Day!

Hennepin County has a climate action plan with a goal of reducing VMT (vehicle miles traveled) but HAS NO PLANS TO REDUCE CAR LANES on county roads.

How does that work?

Edina has similar goals but HAS NO PLANS FOR A PROTECTED BIKEWAY NETWORK in the Southdale District

Went on a recreational bike ride yesterday in the southern exurbs, and someone in the back seat of a truck yelled something at me as we were biking

It wasn't an expletive

A little kid yelled "Santa!!" at me

Not the first time. I have to adjust to this new identity lol

And the oil & car industries made sure the streetcars got destroyed to prop up their own businesses.

We need that big of a shift (like funding the Interstate Highway System) to get us back to dense, walkable, lovable streets

Remember, we've had transportation mode shift before.

When do we get this for cars?

(I brought this up at the most recent Hennepin County Active Transportation Committee meeting, when the county's Climate Action Plan was being explained. Maybe not this exactly, but something must be done.)

The fennel salmon, butter mushrooms, & sliced roasted sweet potatoes paired nicely with the arugula, Sicilian lemon, & parmigiano reggiano cheese salad

Research it and it gets worse.

This is the problem the state law was trying to solve:

Affordable housing currently gets built—if it gets built—in out-of-the-way places, in terrible surroundings, away from other housing, transit, shopping, food, recreation, & walkable, bikeable areas.

“Sell it on Facebook Marketplace,” they said

Reducing the price doesn’t work if it’s sorted by newest

Maintaining our less-beef diet, I made a delicious Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Rum, Maple, and Pecan Glaze last night 😋 🤤

Continuing the sweet theme, I added sliced roasted sweet potatoes (skin-on) with butter

And broccoli, for color & flavor contrast

Win-win-win! Delicious

Seconds away from being killed or injured

Biking east on the multiuse path on 36th St. in St. Louis Park, I cross Park Center Blvd, and 50 ft past the intersection I hear screeching & a loud thump

I stop, turn around, & take the photo. 1 car is where I was a second ago

I could’ve been under it

Walking tour videos can be great

But many of them are more “this is what tourists look like on vacation” than an experience of place

They are so often taken during prime tourist season with hordes of tourists

Unsurprising to see “Tourist go home” graffiti on a Naples walking tour

Me, yesterday

Enjoying the setting sun, the oak knoll, and the new $10 million water feature in our local park, along with the ducks and geese

Good news in St. Louis Park!

We were despondent that a beautiful older home on a large lot was torn down, and it’s vegetation scraped away

I walked there yesterday (on sidewalks! In the suburbs!) & learned that it will be a lot split, so now 2 households can live in the same space

Remember, kids:

Always eat healthy & healthfully!

P.S. my cream puffs* came out great!
