This is moreso an anime character with historically inspired details, but it was still fun merging my more grounded style with anime's more fantastic nature.

I also drew inspiration from Eden's (@museedemakeup on Instagram) recreation of Roman makeup in the Basilica of San Vitale mosaics to add more elements of Roman femininity.

My first instinct was to try to make a more historically accurate cataphract and just have a woman under the armor, but I thought it would be more interesting to try to anthropomorphize the horse armor instead.

This gal would go absolutely wild in the light display at Lowe's.

As someone who always lived close to the ocean, keeping Palestinians from to making a livelihood on, or even just seeing the waves is one of the points of apartheid that upset me the most. Loved drawing the sea in this; I see it as its own character in this.

The Mikeno's crew also cast floating aid packages off the starboard side, but it is unconfirmed if any of these reached Gaza.

Regardless, the strongest military in the region with the backing of several nuclear powers was beaten without a single shot fired.

Gaza was fed. Palestine will be free.

On the morning of October 2nd, the Mikeno was spotted off the coast of Gaza. As the Israeli Navy scrambled to capture the ship, Palestinians took advantage of the distraction to launch their fishing boats and cast their nets.

Marines stormed onboard the ships with guns drawn to kidnap unarmed activists while the navy rammed ships and blasted water on anyone exposed. During this chaos, the Mikeno, piloted by Muhammad Kuchuktigin, outmaneuvered the Israelis, and evaded capture by turning their transponder on and off.

On the night of October 1st, a flotilla of over 40 ships carrying humanitarian activists and aid was intercepted in International waters by the Israeli navy for attempting to break the genocidal siege on Gaza.

Much of the sword's design was based specifically on details from Seamus Heaney's 2001 translation of Beowulf. The sword being refurbished is totally my invention.

Inspired by how Mycenaean ruins were said to have built built by cyclopses in ancient Greece, I based the blade's unique design on swords recovered from Rørby, Denmark. I like to imagine this sword was designed to never kill, and the bent blade was meant to reflect that. Not that Beowulf cares!

I do not condone Charlie's assassination. But, if you hold his death as inherently more reverant and noteworthy than the brown and the queer who were already being killed, I think that is a massive condemnation of your character.

On the same day, an avowed Nazi shot up a school in Colorado, and hundreds of Gazans were starved and bombed. In the following weeks, Demartraviaon "Trey" Reed and Cory Zukatis were lynched in Mississippi.

Migraines are one of the worst things to get. I often end up having to lose the rest of my day to passing out from the pain. Them lasting for more than a day or being more frequent than once every few months is not normal, though. Hope everything's going well!
