Family trip to VT this weekend. Weather's looking a bit tough to try a new fishing spot, so the little guy and I are watching Mickey Mouse while I savor the first fresh Heady Topper I've had in a couple years. Life is good.

Third time's a charm, right? I missed my Halloween release date so I could tell this story just the way I wanted to. The Cottage Chronicles: Episode 15 - Lost & Found is coming later this week, and I could not be more excited!

No luck today, but the view was nice. Not pictured here: the mink who came to fish with me midway through the day.

Lunch break fishing mission was a bust. I love this spot, because there's never anyone else there. However, I'm beginning to think that's a sign.

Target acquired! Now to get back to catching trees.

The Fallfish is one of my favorite oddball/bycatch species and one that's been on my shortlist to catch this Fall. Stoked to have found one during my lunch break today. Now to catch one on a fly!

Rainbow trout as bycatch when I'm after largemouths... I believe this is the definition of a happy accident.

It's the most wonderful time of the year. 🎶

Any other pickerel fans out there? I caught this one on a white spinnerbait with the tail end of one of my swimbaits as a trailer.

As temps cool, I plan to get back to bait making and targeting big pickerel (at least a few inches bigger than this one).

Once in a while, a plan comes together. I've been eying this grass bad since last season, but I've only been able to catch big panfish and a few small pickerel nearby. Today, the Willowvibe and Diezel MinnowZ combo changed that!🎣🤙

The scale says this bad boy was just 1 lb. 1 oz. I do not believe it for a second. I was catching 1.5 lb. fish smaller than this last month. I'm calling this one an easy 2 - 2.5. It's the longest bass I've caught this season by far. Pic 2 is the jig and trailer that got the job done.

I'm pleased to reveal a new part of the site that is currently still in progress. All of my products are already sorted by product type and target species. Starting today, you'll see many of your favorite products sorted by technique too!

Bass were deep and bites were pretty slow today.

On the bright side, I'm still being haunted by a Mepps Black Fury (see past podcast episodes). I'll blame the curse for the slow fishing. It was nothing like this on Saturday. Surely, it's no coincidence.

Taking my dad to my favorite #kayak #fishing spot this morning. Hoping to get into some more fish like this beauty from Saturday.

Looking for new metal options to fish in rainy and windy conditions?

You already know about spinners and Beetle Spins, but have you ever tried the Z-Man Flashback Mini? Think ChatterBait, but crappie-sized.

New video coming soon!

Rock bass? Not what I was expecting, but I'll celebrate a first catch regardless of species.

Double points for a reservoir fish. Usually, a reservoir trip is a surefire way to get skunked.

The bite around here is inconsistent between the wind and rain, but the Beetle Spin was the ticket today. Got a couple yellow perch and 3 chain pickerel before the bite totally shutdown this afternoon.

Found 30 minutes to fish before a thunderstorm and the river was generous. Got a chunky 15" brown trout while throwing a spinner around

He thicc 😍

Not the bass I was after, but I'll take a 25" drum any day.

This was the first fish I've ever landed on a crankbait too. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Found the biggest bass of my life yesterday, but I couldn't crack the code. I think it was blowing up on small frogs. Going to see if I can track it down again today.

Meanwhile, enjoy this water snake. It, too, was among the biggest I've seen.

Not the gator I'm after, but getting closer. The pickerel are unreal right now.

There are few things as beautiful as an empty boat launch and an 80° day.

A couple of additional catches from this weekend's shenanigans. I wanted to test alternate thumbnails for the video, so here are some dinks from Saturday.

While YouTube decides whether or not to cooperate and update the intro music, here's a preview of what's to come.

I hardly ever fish jerkbaits, and I'd never landed a fish on one unless you count jointed minnows. This weekend was something else!

The weirdest fishing treasure I've witnessed was a duck decoy that a charter captain found while we were trolling for mahi and blackfin.

I guess my baseball from today's #flyfishing trip takes second place overall. Still, I wasn't expecting it on the riverbed. It's not in terrible shape either.
