Coffee & Networking: 11:30 – 12:00 - Talk: 12:00 -13:00 “Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy and Drug Policy: Implications for Cancer Care and Patient Safety” ‘ Jo Neill is Professor of Psychopharmacology at the University of Manchester, Chair of the Medical Psychedelics Working Group, and Chair of Trustees at Drug Science. She has served as President of the British Association for Psychopharmacology and was a panel member for the UK Research Excellence Framework in Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy. She is also co-host of the Drug Science podcast and an advocate for evidence-based drug policy reform. In this session, Prof Neill will explore the use of psychedelic-assisted therapy for existential anxiety and depression in people with cancer, alongside wider reflections on drug policy failure in the UK and patient safety.

The presentation will explore how different disciplines and their analytical tools – from epidemiology, randomised trials, and machine intelligence – can be used in big data research to provide reliable evidence to advance knowledge in disease aetiology and inform clinical practice. Some of the challenges posed by multimorbidity in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease will also be discussed.
