Maybe it's the presence of crypto-focussed blockchain venture capitalists that's sewing the seeds of doubt in my head but ultimately a return on investment will be demanded and the spectre of enshittification will raise its all-too-familiar head again.

I've not been what could even charitably be called "active" on social media for quite a while now and I'm in two minds if I can realistically be bothered rebuilding here. Yes, Bluesky may have promised to not screw things up but, then again, they would say that wouldn't they?

Over time I ended up following a set accounts that variously provided value via friendship, entertainment, information or — at times — a combination of all of the above. I was largely insulated from the encroaching dross and misinformation but, now, the deterioration is palpable and inescapable.
