Maybe true, just saying what I'd read from the other side. The theory being that your replacement needs a year to develop (think youve already got one at the club?) and the plan is to sell next summer when there could be a bidding war

From what I've read online, the price wasn't the issue. United were willing to pay that much but Brighton wouldn't accept any amount this summer, even £120m+. Not for sale at any price was the response. But I suppose only the clubs know for sure.
