I think the “theys” she sings about in Wi$h Li$t are these guys. Previous versions of herself.
The things she names (contract with Real Madrid, Oscar on the bathroom floor etc.) are things The Showgirl pursued instead of being with The Poet and making a couple kids (albums) with her true self.
