Respectfully disagree:

But yeah, this is all about Trump’s ego and his weird new quest to get a Nobel Peace Prize.

Azeri troops have invaded and are currently occupying more than 200 kilometers of Armenia. Azerbaijan has at least 27 (and probably far more) Armenian political hostages. Azerbaijan has been treating Armenia for months. So yes this is a war situation.

This is the thesis of Tony Judt’s book Postwar.

But it is ongoing, aside from Palestine, It just happened to Armenians in 2023 by Azerbaijan.

Zionists were pretty vocal about supporting the Armenian genocide. This may not have been your families’ story, but if they were Zionists, it could be another interpretation of why he bought ears.

What do you think this will this bring? I am gobsmacked. I was sure Iran would not allow this to happen (as they seemed to have stopped the invasion that was imminent last Fall).
Any thoughts on how this will unfold? Staggering.

Congress has waived the ban on arms sales to Azerbaijan to “combat terrorism.” The terrorists being unarmed civilians (elderly, women, children, and anyone else who was ethnically Armenian) mostly.

Ending US military assistance to Azerbaijan immediately
Washington was giving Baku transfer waivers for years to fight terrorism after 9/11. That's no longer necessary, especially now.

From the above: “Russia and Azerbaijan are de facto and de jure allies in many different aspects, including military.”
July 6, 2025 at 2:48 PM
Then you have not been paying attention. In terns of scale maybe you are right but in all the HR indexes, Az. Is far below Russia. In just two areas, Az. committed a genocide in 2023, and is the main oil and gas supplier for Israel.
Yes Europeans hate/ fear Russia more but that is not worse.
July 6, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Look at the article. Azerbaijan has an alliance with Russia. Armenia has forsworn theirs.
July 6, 2025 at 9:37 AM
As is Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani government banned people from holding an anti-Russian protest in front of the Russian embassy in Baku. Tells you a lot about their performative theatrics.

The EU pays slightly more but can take the moral high ground. Unsure how really annoyed Russia is with Az. Could be for show. Autocrats love autocrats.
July 5, 2025 at 7:31 AM
It is more complicated, but very well documented. The Azeris are using Russian gas to satisfy their own domestic demand and in turn sell their new surplus to the EU. They might be shipping it directly to the EU, but it doesn’t matter; EU money goes to Russia with an Az. cut.
