Sparkly.
Humanist.
Safe space holder for respectful humans.
Clear boundaries.
Strong BS meter.
This is why I stand and face the toilet -- and occasionally get bawled out by ignorant people who assume my genitalia doesn't fit their precious preconceived notions.

We cannot win.

And every scrap of me agrees that autoflushers are more problem than solution. Grrrrrrr.

I appreciate all of this in the least commonly expectable way.

Not sure if this is helpful, or if it is even the one you already have -- but here it is in case it is interesting. 🎄

I came here to say this because someone said it to me the other day and I haven't had a chance to test it yet. I so appreciate your user acceptance testing data!

There are worse things one could buy this day. (I generally think of it as "buy small and local all you want day", but that's a not super catchy name.)

So if they share a goal of resisting and arguing why they should resist, it explains the behavior, and will probably result in a lower grade.

If they want higher grades, they may need to re-evaluate the behavior.

Cheating is, by nature, dishonest. Everyone knows the rules here, so, not cheating.

That means it's about goals. Practicing debate skills probably feels interesting, but that won't singlehandedly improve their grades in these classes, or their class learning. Accepting the teacher's offer will.

You did it, and it WILL be remembered. 😂

As far as the part where it's easy to identify that it's specific to parents with only older kids, it's hard to say -- it would be interesting to hear from them. My guess is that they probably have had some experiences if it's a widespread phenomenon. I'd be curious to learn.

In my area, there are reasons. Some take their own kids to an event instead, some with smalls want to avoid big kid chaos, some feel too vulnerable to open their doors (I've seen teens do some crappy stuff to vulnerable folks in my day), etc. And Ring cameras show us what happens to honor bowls. 😕
