I spent most of my life as a progressive, learning from progressives from the past, looking at past revolutions with a misty-eyed glee that the power of the people can slowly but surely topple bias and fascism. And this round, it feels like all the radicals are too busy scrolling to kick ass.

Today I swore in front of a student and normally there is a bunch of extenuating circumstances that make a funny story how I got myself in the wacky situation where I swore but this time I just said "shit what was the name of that show?" just straight up to an 8th grader during morning meeting.

I am shocked at the number of people talking about how Trump’s executive orders are illegal as if that is a deterrent. I don’t even know how to wrap my mind around this.

Cowards.

Anyone who wondered what they would do in Germany in the 1930s and has not made a plan to delete Meta now knows what they would do in Germany in the 1930s.
Many people left Meta after Zuckerberg's changes, but user numbers have rebounded
Earlier this month, Zuckerberg signaled that he wanted Meta to be more like X by removing "politically biased" third-party fact checkers in favor of community notes and...

@msouliere.bsky.social gave me this idea - I'm nostalgic for the cheesy, chainmail parts of social media that I rolled my eyes at before hate speech took over, now I'm like nooo I want stupid lil top 4s back. Here are images from my top 4 films, tagging @hammerandpickle.bsky.social to continue.

Who else also sometimes has to urge to stay in a hotel but like at their hometown? I just want to be nearby to my safe space but have clean towels w/ no work and cable TV and a swimming pool and do the elliptical.

I hear "ain't no rules that say a dog can't play basketball" when thinking of the past six months, with "dog" replaced by "felon" and "basketball" replaced by "lead our country". I know everyone is like "Dr Strangelove", "Handmaid's Tale" and "Civil War" as future predictors, but also... "air bud"?

I feel like I'm being really holier than thou lately with the whole delete meta or you're a fucking fascist shit so to level the playing field I'll go ahead and out myself as really enjoying Mumford and Sons. It's pretty music!

Kinda feels all of us intellectual progressives "there's no ethical consumerism under capitalism, do your best" -ed into an actual Third Reich. Maybe there was some ethical consumerism and it just wasn't fucking Amazon Prime?

One specific way I am reclaiming my brain and soul is rebelling against autoplay and shuffle. I think we can stop letting the robots dictate what art we love, and just pick a favorite album or use a playlist submitted by someone else.

Songs that I pretended not to like in college because they were popular and I was too cool but now my country is fascist and they are comforting

Listening to Lynch speak of TM/rewatching films is giving me this baseline to help me to hear the news & help it not take me over. The below words are both what I need to scream, externally, at the fascists, but also what I need to repeat to my overly empathetic, broken-child of a beating pulse.

Watched Blue Velvet, left the screen up, read about Blue Velvet, went for a walk and listened to a podcast about Blue Velvet, came home and then I never turned off the TV so Blue Velvet autoplayed so I watched Blue Velvet again.

Unfortunately for my first viewing of Blue Velvet, I find this person very attractive.

Gonna go dream some Twin Peaks storylines that I know David will want me to interpret as canon.
