The paper is out in journal format at EJN! We thank the reviewers for their insightful comments, and how they shaped the final form of this story. Check it out here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

As usual, it's open access! We're getting the data ready for sharing very soon 👀🧠🧪

Very happy that this work is finally out in ‪@pnas.org‬! We show that synaptic and intrinsic forms of homeostatic plasticity sense distinct aspects of network activity, and can thus be independently recruited by distinct network functions. A thread:

📣 My first first author paper is out! Here is our contribution to the mitral vs. tufted cell debate in the olfactory bulb. tinyurl.com/5n6p5y2u

This was a truly collaborative paper between my Reykjavík & Cambridge labs that was made all the better with @chloeg-neuro.bsky.social @lihuang.bsky.social

Some good news at the end of a very long January!
During a time when we could all use good news, our American in Iceland @neurosana.bsky.social delivered in style!
She's been awarded a 1-year doctoral studentship from the Icelandic Government (one of only two for life sciences!) to fund her final PhD year.
Congrats Sana, you’re on a roll! 🎉

We have *another* preprint! This work was led by the amazing Candida Tufo, ex-PhD student in the lab.

We show that adult-born dopaminergic cells in the olfactory bulb rapidly functionally resemble their pre-existing counterparts!

Have a look at the preprint here: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Seeing many new #olfaction researches on Bluesky, nice! I made a starter pack for researchers and groups studying the sense of smell or taste. If you want to get added let me know.

🚨Very excited that my first first preprint is online!

We asked what differentiates a mitral cell from a tufted cell in an ex vivo preparation. Surprisingly, instead of distinct cell types we found that there is a heterogeneous continuum amongst these cell types
📣Our “Icelandic” preprint is out!
Led by our country-hopping, cold-adapted patcher extraordinaire @neurosana.bsky.social and done between Cambridge & the Petersen lab at the University of Iceland 🇮🇸, here’s our offering on the mitral vs tufted cell debate in the 🐭olfactory bulb
