We are in civilizational collapse, the 6th great extinction due to biosphere/ecosystem disruption, and we have already used our global carbon budget. IMO, the solution is solarpunk and social ecology. My political opinions are here.

it was terrifying but still a speech catching ppl up with what he has already done- trying to get credit for the chaos. he is amping up his own base to violence but not necessarily drawing in a wider populism. showed his cards that he is plotting a full 4 years of plans & not everything up front

Panama canal situation is important b/c it creates a strategic southern pt of invasion to encircle Mexico & create a Great Wall on our "southern" boarder. don't forget a significant number of US manufacturers use Mexico like a cheap labor site, economically already US territory (thanks to NAFTA).
