When they messaged the hiring contact, they were told that that email was sent out to ALL applicants for all current postings without their knowledge or action and they had no idea how this occurred.

a friend in Washington state has reported that they received an email saying the position they applied for with the state govt was "filled by another applicant", despite being lined up for interview.

This is called "Impoundment" and it was outlawed by Congress in 1974 in the "Impoundment Control Act" which was created to prevent exactly this sort of abuse of power. Even "temporary" halts are forbidden without compliance to procedural requirements, which Trump has completely ignored.

You can also make them last longer by giving them a light coat of oil before putting them in the fridge. We buy them on sale and do this -they stay fresh for 2-3x as long. Lots of sources say to use mineral oil but any vegetable oil will do.
