Very happy to have found several No Kings protests in the UK that I would be able to go to. Now I just need to pick one. Channeling ALL my far-away American terror into this, thanks.

These apple boxes can be found everywhere right now. It’s definitely in my top ten of favorite things about England in the fall. I guess a lot of people have apple trees, and they offer the extras to anyone who wants them? And I sure do take them up on it.

Took a wee trip to Bristol today to visit the cat pub. This was a good choice.

Maybe the juries won’t vote for Iceland, but we did make them a cake! #Eurovision

I got to see Mazie Hirono (and Pramila Jayapal, Ilhan Omar, and Maxwell Frost) yesterday!

Got there in the end. What a gorgeous spring day. No photos from the protest itself (didn’t bring my phone), but this was the first day of hope I’ve really had since 47 took office, and that is worth its weight in gold.

This one‘s personal. I’m so angry.

I think I know my favorite character from the new Hunger Games novel

Rereading “Parable of the Sower” for book club (the graphic novel version this time). Which is maybe not the healthiest choice for these times, but this bit in Nalo Hopkinson’s introduction was just beautiful.

Was this book anyone else's whole personality for a minute there as a child? Was just suddenly reminded of its existence. I'm pretty sure this was the reason I ended up "borrowing" my mom's name-your-baby books when I was 8-9.

It’s done. I fought so hard for this, and it’s done!

I hate this so much. (Not my post.)

There has been much talk about the OPM email, and I’ve got nothing new to say, but I’m just really stuck on this bit. So “productivity” doesn’t exist unless you’re making the big CEO richer?

Guess who isn’t just German, but now has PROOF.

It’s not the ‘80s anymore. Whatever status symbol a cover like this used to have doesn’t exist in 2025.

The New Year’s lemon pig has gone demonic. Not sure what to do, other than offer it occasional kumquats in ritual sacrifice.

No muesli for lazy people. 😢

First! Day! Of! PTO! I have so much quality time with my Kindle to catch up on! (Also friends and family, I guess. 🥰)

Yeah, okay. Can’t pass up the chance to be extra.

E-reader refresh complete! I kind of want to change the screensavers on the Kindles to match their new covers, but I’m not sure if that would be overkill…
November 10, 2024 at 1:33 AM
Spent the afternoon cutting paper for e-reader inserts and avoiding my phone (until now!) Have found myself trying to customize stuff I own all week. I think I’m trying to sort of maintain control of my little bubble here when it’s all so nightmarish outside of it? Ugh ugh.
