Northeast US Shelf LTER
@nes-lter.bsky.social
The NES-LTER project integrates observations, experiments, and models to understand and predict how planktonic food webs are changing in the region, and how those changes may impact the productivity of higher trophic levels. Since 2017
Our summer transect cruise is on track! We can't wait to see all of the data and wave photos. Any unusual Hemiaulus blooms? Nice to get it all done before Erin "goes safely out to sea". #nsf @uslter.bsky.social @whoi.edu @urigso.bsky.social @wellesley.edu @noaa.gov

Data Jam 2025 projects are in and they are fabulous! This year we had students Grade 5 - 12 sharing their work, practicing making sense of data and communicating the story they see. Students are creative and clever. @uslter.bsky.social @whoi.edu #nsffunded

Tomorrow, EdOutreach Coordinator Brickley will be engaging members of the Massachusetts Marine Educators before the annual meeting with a favorite data and art all-in-one activity. If kids can do it, can the adults? @uslter.bsky.social @whoi.edu #nsffunded #mme

Great fun creating a data viz, looking at plankton with Pierre, and tattooing small children with a food chain ; ) #partyfortheplanet @ButtonwoodParkZoo in New Bedford, MA @uslter.bsky.social @whoi.edu @urigso.bsky.social #nsffunded

Last week, IM Mgr Kate and EO Mgr Annette visited a Morse Pond School g.5 classroom to talk about food webs and how we learn about them on the Northeast US Shelf. Who knew our Conceptual Model would be so useful with 5th graders?! @uslter.bsky.social #nsffunded

When you can't bring K-12 students to your field site, you bring them the data! ABrickley, EO Coordinator at NES, recently presented at the DSE-K12 Conference with @dataspire.bsky.social about exploring data in different ways and the NES-LTER Data Jam. #dsek12 #dataishuman

From inside the lab on our recent winter transect cruise on RV Endeavor (@URI-GSO), T. Crockford captured a full-blown bongo net as it was deployed.
