I didn't understand this until I was at a wedding with a cake as a display piece. Once you eat the cake, you no longer have it as a decoration.

Audiobooks are best enjoyed while doing other things (dishes, going for a walk, road trip, etc). It is the only way I have time to "read". If you're just sitting on the couch, hard copy all the way.

The problem is that so many efforts just feel like they aren't actually accomplishing anything. They just help people (me included) feel better due to the illusion of doing something meaningful. But maybe not giving in to nihilism is doing something.

We need to figure out a way that this sort of thing can't happen again. I don't want people to be arrested/deported for a difference of opinion. We also need to make sure the facts get to Republican voters. (If that's even possible).

I have no idea what to even do about this. I had Chinese friends in graduate school who would duck their heads and whisper if they ever said something critical of our government (or theirs). I always told them they didn't have to do that in America...I was wrong. I feel sick.
