9.) Baldur's Gate III

A recent addition, but one of the best ones. Its writing is stellar and it's gameplay is fleshed out if a bit complex. I love all the storylines and connecting plot threads so much and it's truly one of the best recent gaming experiences I've had. Maybe one day I'll finish it

8.) Spiritfarer

I have never played a game that integrates the thematic message so closely into the gameplay. You're constantly growing close and needing to move on from each of the characters and it creates such a somber yet loving feeling as you continue through the game and the ship grows quiet

7.) Tunic
No other game that has ever been made has done what Tunic does in integrating the manual into the game as a mechanic. It is so interesting to uncover all the little details and secrets of the world without looking anything up because it's all right THERE. So cute so fun so good 11/10

6.) Mother 3

Earthbound if it were even more emotionally compelling. It has slightly less replay value, but good lord it is one of the most emotionally compelling and resonant games ever created. The art and music is stellar and the messaging is so important. Hopefully one day it gets released

5.) Disco Elysium

The most beautiful game i have ever played. its art style, its narrative, its mechanics, its gameplay, its writing, its everything. It is the most somberly optimistic view of the world I have ever encountered and i fall in love with it every single time I replay it. FUCK za/um

4.) Undertale

I liked my own post so I could talk about this game. Easily one of the most formative gaming experiences of my life. The story is well written and fun, while being emotional and gripping. The characters are all compelling. The metacommentary on games is second to none. Thank u Fox man

3.) Portal (And Portal 2)

Cheating by doing 2 but my list my rules. Portal and Portal 2 were the first games I had ever played on PC and I couldn't have been happier with them. Dripping with intrigue and atmosphere, some of the most brain bending puzzles I've ever played, and JK Simmons. 11/10

2.) Fallout New Vegas

This is one of the greatest narrative RPG's ever made. All of the characters are compelling, its sociopolitics are coherent and well-researched, and the way these elements blend into the gameplay is so fun and interesting. Maybe one day I'll play it without mods...

1.) Earthbound
Fantastic game. The emotional connection the game makes with the player is unlike almost anything I've ever played. The game holds the player in such high regard and it shows every step of the way. It is full of so much love for the medium, for the audience, and for the world.
