Willson Contreras shared this morning that one of the equipment reps who came through camp this spring was packing some of the fancy new torpedo bats that became a thing yesterday. The sales rep told him that a few Yankees used them in last year's playoffs. He tried them out, didn't like the feel.

Victor Scott just made a play that is making your highlight show of choice this evening. Full out sprint into the gap in right center and somehow stayed on his feet to haul in what would otherwise have been a game-tying double.

Libby has looked great so I get that part. But what’s up with matz in the bullpen for 2 weeks and THEN 6 man rotation? Is it because someone’s injured? Or because of the schedule?

Matthew Liberatore will be in the big-league rotation to open the season. Steven Matz will begin the year in the bullpen, but will move into the rotation on April 16.

Oli Marmol, in his first three seasons, has run out an opening day dress rehearsal lineup on the last weekend of spring, with the exception of flipping a position player to DH.

I emailed MLB asking for comment on this pending policy on Saturday, and got a reply a day later indicating MLB would need some time for a statement. That’s all, so far, though I did say there was no immediate rush “unless there was one.”
