It’s total BS. Gen X’s parents didn’t care if we came home after dark. That was Boomers who had to be in before dark.

Maintenance is needed but we already have too many roads in the US. More roads will not alleviate congestion… ie the Induced Demand Theory of Transportation Systems. All it does is drive urban sprawl. Acceptance leads to the use of public transport and walkable, livable, affordable cities.
Disadvantage of Building More Roads and Widening Existing Ones - Profolus
A discussion of why building more roads and existing ones do not solve traffic congestion based on the induced demand effect.

We could have enough talent if we had good K-12 in every neighborhood, free child care, more aid for family stability and after school programs, etc. If we want the talent, we have to build it from the ground up. But the GOP will never allow that, so we will always need immigrants. End of story.

Businesses and consumers are likely owed a refund if SCOTUS finds the tariffs are unconstitutional. Fortunately, the WH hasn’t been allowed to spend any of the money they’ve collected yet, even though they said they did. Congress has to authorize that spending.
Here’s What Happens If Supreme Court Overturns Trump Tariffs
If the Supreme Court lets a lower court’s decision stand, and tariffs are ruled unlawful, companies—and consumers—could start asking that the money they paid be returned.

This is evidence that very high IQ people can be in very deep denial, often to justify the mistakes they've made in life. Barrett’s ideas don’t fit into any of the three modern branches of feminism: mainstream, radical, or even tradwife difference feminism. The word feminism simply doesn’t apply.

Fact check: "Retail prices for turkeys are… $2.05 per pound in November, which is 25% higher than a year ago.” This “deal" from Walmart simply serves fewer people and with fewer sides, ie it’s shrinkflation.
Why Thanksgiving turkey prices might give shoppers a shock this season

Reminder: Van Jones resigned from the Obama administration after making divisive comments. He’s a guy who had political ambitions but failed to launch, so he slid further and further down the ladder, ending up as a CNN pundit. Zohran won because he doesn’t listen to people with failed careers.

There’s zero chance Republicans end the filibuster. The only reason the GOP even still exists is the gridlock they intentionally create to prevent their base from getting what it wants. In the few moments when they actually pass legislation, America always turns against them and they lose elections.

I’ve been telling people Raman for mayor 2026. 100% the election issue in LA needs to be housing affordability. Santa Monica has a 2.3% per year cap on rent increases. If they can do it, LA can too. If NY gets to have Zohran, LA deserves a Democratic Socialist urban planner. It’s only fair.

74% of Democratic voters now prefer socialism to capitalism. A party that refuses to support candidates that reflect this new reality will be the minority party a majority of the time. A party needs its base to win, pure and simple.

Trump's cancellation of the Esmerelda 7 solar project in NV is another reason we need regional interstate compacts for renewable energy so Blue areas can build a house of bricks while the others build with straw. National programs seem unreliable in this country for the foreseeable future.

This is a useful article if anyone wants to get into the weeds of various neoclassical architectural styles and the difference between the WH’s democratic Federalist style vs the incompatible Gilded Age Baroque Revival style of the new addition.
Trump’s Gilded Design Style May Be Gaudy. But Don’t Call it ‘Rococo.’
The US president’s taste for gilded decor is often dismissed with comparisons to an ornate European style of the 18th century. But the real Rococo deserves a second look.

The easiest model for how Progressive Federalism could tackle this is probably interstate compacts, ie self-organizing groups of states like we see with the West Coast Health Alliance. Even better would be municipal compacts so urban areas could unify to provide things like universal healthcare.

This is an article on Progressive Federalism. All liberals should be rethinking our intuition wrt solving most problems via the federal government. By 2050, the southern red states will be devastated by climate change. Blue states will not be wanting to subsidize the huge cost of propping them up.

A plan (ironically) from the CATO institute on how states could "end" federal income taxes by sending people checks. This would be paid for by new state tax revenue. CATO suggests sales tax (bad idea) but a higher tax on the wealthy’s income/property makes sense. CA treats capital gains as income.
