It's interesting, I was talking with Andrew Sutton about Victor Wembanyama and he swayed me telling me how much Wemby's training staff was working on conditioning/etc.
Manute Bol entered league way late, and he looked good initially, gotta buy injuries and 80s grind weren't great for his size.

The phrase "Penny Wise, Pound Foolish" is, at least by cursory Googling (so who even knows in era of AI) at least 600 years old (1621) so like ... amazing people still don't get it.

Because he was able to masterfully lie about it in Space Jam and tell us that he couldn't get better at baseball because everyone was too nice to him so he couldn't get the competition he needed to be great.

Can I just note, Mark Eaton is the only player in the "modern" (good god, 80s are almost 50 years ago now ...) NBA to get more than 400 blocks in a season ... adn Wemby's averaging 4.8 a game right now ...
