Hunter-killer subs were detected in the 2nd convergence zone of TACTAS as far back as the eighties. Between that, improving remote sensing from aircraft, SOSUS and LEO satellites, supercavitating torpedos and subs' lack of air defence, you have to wonder about the shelf life of SLBM platforms.

The lack of NVMe boot is not a complete showstopper. RPi's will PXE boot and you need ethernet for that sort of IOPS anyway.
