Lawful Irritated
@nerdcool.bsky.social
Midwestern D&D & World of Warcraft enthusiast, Exasperated cat dad. I know just enough about most things to be dangerous, but not *good*.
Things other people said, but also traffic jams.
You usually feed all the beasts at the same time, so the often need to go around the same time.

I know the OP didn't contain question mark, but I will third the recommendation (for the litter robot 4 at least).
Not hard to get them acclimated, nicer for them & easier for you, plus you'd probably be able to only have 2 which will save space!

... I may have just dug one out and threw it away because of this skeet.

True, but i still think that jumping paper animation SLAPS.

Or... may I suggest a fun video to learn ... enough about it AND a hilariously dumb lawsuit?

The exec tried to bluster about how OBVIOUSLY he can't be blamed, it's just a naked button. Anyone could push it! He blushed real bad when they mentioned small children had been there a ton without pushing buttons.

So a little plastic guard had to be installed 2 days later. Because of the exec.

At least 5 times we were in there for hours without incident.
Wanna know who DID hit the killswitch?
A c-suite executive taking a tour.

Exec: "what does this button do?" *pushes button before anyone can answer*
Mom: takes down the whole system for over an hour to reboot.

We got a BIG lecture about not touching anything, but ESPECIALLY the big red buttons:
- the one on the console kills the whole system. Mommy will be fired.
- the one by the door seals the room & sucks all the air out. We will suffocate & die.

We largely played tag around the servers & Lego. 2/

Long ago my mom worked data stuff for an insurance company, and sometimes had to do tape changes & monitor stuff at odd hours. So there were several times she brought me (7) & my sis (3) along into the server room for hours at a time.

Ok, thinking about them as different vowels, rather than just stretching the same vowel, does help some.
Please understand, I know I'M the inadequate part of the equation in me learning a language! It was never gernan, spanish, French, or Japanese's fault!

Go start.
Once you get going, you'll see the progress and that will feel good. Then when you're done the whole kitchen will feel better.
At least dishes have immediate positive feedback.
November 19, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Exactly! And like, yeah, there's a joke connection you can make there- but cognitively for me those ideas are miles apart. I'd find it easier if the long u meant, like, fiancee or something.
November 18, 2025 at 7:34 PM
That feels kinda similar to German words for a thing being comprised of many other words glued together.
November 18, 2025 at 7:29 PM
I also find the way intonation & vowel length changes the word itself spectacularly difficult to internalize. In English, that stuff conveys intent & emotional meaning- not change the word from "boss" to "asshole" or something.

I was gifted 1 massage session many years ago. The masseuse was so apologetic that "there's so much left to do", but i felt like goo & was legit HIGH at the end.
If I ever win the lottery, I don't want a lambo or designer clothes- I'm getting weekly massages for the rest of my life.

Fuck, that's awful. You're not alone though.
It was deeply disturbing to learn how many people had this sort of experience as a kid, or trauma directly from medical pros.
I'm so goddamn lucky my mom had a good sense for medical severity, the resources to get treatment, & generally believed me.

100% When someone wants to base credentials on things that "can't be changed", all I hear is "can't be fixed", & i don't understand how others don't.
November 15, 2025 at 7:06 PM
A+++ use of "attractive nuisance".
Perfect terminology.
November 15, 2025 at 6:34 PM
That hella impressive, and very kind!
I've got a good ear for language, I just REALLY struggle with making the sounds. Frustrating to understand more than I can say.
Gentle suggestion, maybe just for fun, learning your most common directions in ASL?

I dunno exactly, i think walking/running in baseball cleats is what got me to walk more on the balls of my feet- so 10-ish?
My mom just yelled at me sounding "like a herd of elephants" until it stopped.
November 13, 2025 at 8:06 PM
Holy shit, way to go!
November 13, 2025 at 7:53 PM
Part of it! I'd phrase it "donors want people they understand how to motivate to work for their interests".
Women aren't really people, you see. Strange creatures. And ethics are just too alien to work with.
Greed & cowardice, now THAT'S something donors can work with!
November 13, 2025 at 7:51 PM
Yeah, I learned it many years ago arguing with libertarians. Somehow they always thought it legitimized their gross obsession with lowering the age of consent.
No sir, that's barely different, and not better. Like, at all.
November 13, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Hell yeah, be free!
I recommend trying to be zen about the physical changes. They will be less & more than you expect, with the subtle fat/muscle changes doing a LOT of work.
The real surprise is teen-like emotional volatility & libido for the first year-ish until things settle.
