@uniofcam.bsky.social Zoology PhD candidate @sofiadartnell.bsky.social is SNP_typing at NEOF-VF to estimate the number of Bombus terrestris colonies invaded by cuckoo bumblebees (B. vestalis) across varying landscapes. These cuckoos are obligate parasites & may indicate healthy bumblebee habitats

Lucy Winder from @uniexecec.bsky.social is visiting the NEOF Visitor Facility to learn how to SNP genotype. She will use this to assess relatedness between individuals in the recently described species of Silk Wasp Spilomena socialis in order to determine whether Spilomena is eusocial.

#NEOF supported @CamZoology PhD researcher @dan_cossey is using metabarcoding to detect potential bacterial pathogens and so investigate mass mortality events of #endangered freshwater mussels.

NEOF provide ONLINE bioinformatics courses for UK based researchers working within the NERC remit; these are held online over 2 days and ... they are FREE!
