This an Ohio pharaoh #cicada. I know that sometimes they are white from the molt, and sometimes it's a fungal disease, but I've not seen this before. My gut says it just isn't done hardening, but am I wrong? Can cicada be piebald?

I went to the Greater Cleveland Aquarium and it is the best aquariums in Ohio and one of the better ones I have ever been to.

I spent the weekend in Cleveland and went to see the Arcade. It's a depressing place, there is nearly no retail and no visitors.
I get the failing malls all over the US, I wish this one had more fight in it. I'd love to shop here if there were places to shop.

Tonight was a lunar eclipse. I never quite figured out camera settings to take it the way I wanted, this was my best shot.

On a walk the other day, I stumbled on a deer and her baby. The fawn startled at the same moment I noticed them. I swore I was about to get in a fistfight with a mama deer. I don't care that I out-weigh and out-reach her, she has bone fists and mama-rage.

🪶 Colorado offered up several wonderful birds. Ohio still has a lot more variety when it comes to colors and shapes.

Samba is a revelation the first time you discover it while building a new computer. Sending files from the old computer to the new via wifi is so much nicer than a removable hard drive.

I voted early too. I didn't get a sticker this time, so here are my stickers from the previous two elections.
I plan to vote in every election that happens in Ohio and hope that I see the change we so badly need. Then I'll vote to keep it from slipping back.

I went to #Cleveland this weekend and I explored their #zoo. It isn't as good as the Columbus or Cincinnati zoos. It is oddly inconsistent and spread out. But a few of the exhibits were exceptional.

I was looking for things to do in Cleveland and I found the International Women's Air & Space Museum and this is their hours of operation (iwasm.org/wp-blog/).
Apparently, they close every time the Browns play... maybe in order to mourn the loss.

We got 10 minutes of clear-ish skys to check out of the solar eclipse. It came just before the peak, so we were fortunate. My wife accidentally discovered that she could see the eclipse through her regular sunglasses because clouds passed in front of it. So she snapped this photo too!

I took my family to the renaissance festival and by far my favorite part was the birds of prey show. They had many hawks and owls and this lennar falcon whom they did a training run involving a target swung on a rope.

#Patchwork is a #BoardGame where the goal is to cover every square of a 9x9 grid with tiles. Today, my wife beat me with one missing square two games in a row. Before today, I had never seen a game played where only one square was left uncovered!

I never know what to say to people to whom I have a parasocial relationship. How do you ask a question they haven't answered 100 times? My solution is to just be awkward AF. Oh well, the books look good on my shelf and I think my wife will read Red Shirts after tonight. So still a win.

It seems that I always find turtles at this park. They are adorable and they keep warm in the sun which makes them easy to find.

I was excited to find a great blue heron near the shore of the lake I was walking around, though it could have been in an easier place to photograph. 🪶
