Occasionally I do things
Watching Stellaris drop a bunch of performance analysis is funny because the normal 10% of the community went "oh cool" and the remaining 90% went "nuh-uh my friend's cousin's wife's former college roommate said sentry arrays felt kinda laggy so it must be that, you devs are just lazy!"

Look, it's not a secret that I hate Palworld, but the amount of hypocrisy from people whom I know previously complained about the "Fortniteification" of games (I.E. crossovers) suddenly turning around and praising PocketPair for going all-in on crossovers is too annoying to not at least mention.

I still get blind-sided by the sheer number of people who just hear something and immediately assume it's fact.

I get it, there are always people who you consider trustworthy, but still, at least spend a minimum 30 seconds to see if the thing you're mad about is, y'know, ACTUALLY REAL.

I'm sorry, I'm utterly fascinated by this clickbait-ass article about the "cooler, Japanese" method for multiplication that:

A) Isn't useful for large numbers
B) Likely didn't originate in Japan
C) Doesn't seem to actually be in use in Japan today that I can confirm

The Japanese Way to Multiply Is So Much Cooler Than Ours
You have to try it.

I still really don't like the term "enshittification", seeing as 90% of its use-case is "this new thing is mildly inconvenient, sorta cringe, or otherwise doesn't vibe with my nostalgia, this is clearly evidence of the total collapse of western civilization."

Sometimes it's really hard to have optimism whenever I see the YouTube sidebar.

"People are generally intelligent and rational."

*glances to multiple video essays made by grown-ass men saying the world will implode because they don't find Pokemon fun anymore*

"...ignore that, please."

Something that irks me is when people complain about "enshitification" and then proceed to nostalgia-wank about how "great" the old internet was.

Buddy, you threw a tantrum because a new menu is mildly inconvenient to you, you would straight-up die if you tried to actually browse older websites.

I feel like I'm going insane watching people elsewhere on social media treat a Pokémon Company tweet where they "got the Pokéball wrong" as serious drama.

Like, yeah, game devs have a bunch of ways to spawn in stuff for testing and promos. You can't be "sus" when you own the friggin' IP.

I'm starting to have doubts on how valid "it works on MY machine" is as mockery.

Yeah, it works on my machine, and my machine is a mess, so now the better question is: what absolute fuckery did you do to YOUR machine's settings that prevents this simple solution from working?

The existence of the words "imploded" and "exploded" suggests that the default state of all things is "ploded".

The philosophical ramifications of this are unclear.

Bethesda is the new Disney's Star Wars.

In the sense of I'm sure they did SOMETHING bad with their IPs but I don't believe a single word of it because I'm constantly catching people making blatant lies and every time I point out said lies I get told it "doesn't matter because it COULD be true".
January 14, 2025 at 4:13 PM
I'm actually really sick of people acting every new game, game update, movie, TV show, TV show episode, book, etc is the end of originality or whatever just because they in particular don't like it.

It wasn't true the last 7,564,378,619,818 times someone said it, why on earth would it be true now?

Both of these below users could have gotten better art more easily from an actual artist, or by doing it themselves.

They chose not to, and the results speak for themselves.
November 21, 2024 at 2:12 PM
The last political snark I'll make is this: Blaming everyone but themselves and then refusing to do anything but sit on their ass and clutch pearls about how things got this way is pretty much what I expected from social media.

Though that doesn't make it less infuriating.

I was going to call out the person who sent a horde of blank-avatar accelerationist tankies to my replies because I told him this would happen if people didn't vote, but it seems he got banned for doing what he did to a bunch of others.

So, now I don't really have an outlet for my rage at all. Yay.

Apropos of nothing I kinda unironically wish recipes would stop using things like "medium-high heat", or at least put "about a x on my stove" in parentheses.

Stoves go 1 to 9 and I know I cook top ramen on 7. Gimme a reference point I can use, please and thank you.

More of these AI fuckers. The user claiming to be against climate change especially pisses me off; they repost a bunch of keywords and don't really have much original content so I suspect they're a bot.

And in case you were looking, usernames are in the alt text. Block as you will.
October 15, 2024 at 11:51 PM
I'm getting a slew of random AI image posts on my timeline lately and I have no idea why, though I'd really appreciate it if they'd fuck right off.

10 million, huh? Watching this site grow has been something.

Dear Unreal marketplace creators,

"Plug-and-play" means I can just drop your collection into my game and have it work with minimal effort.
Please stop making your documentation only available in the form of 20-minute YouTube videos and clunky, engine-incompatible example maps.

Thank you.

Listening to the person with the self-proclaimed "background in compsci" explain to me how they think network scalability works.
August 7, 2024 at 3:30 AM
I wish Unreal Engine tutorials stopped putting so much into the character blueprint. I understand the engine itself requires the character or camera for certain actions, but isn't it much better practice to spread out functionality between blueprints and make everything more modular?

I've figured out why I get so angry at people complaining about computers online: it reminds me of working in IT.

People: "Ugh, can you believe this issue I'm having with Windows?"
Me: "Well, you can solve that by—"
People: "I don't want a solution! I want to be mad about the problem existing!"
July 25, 2024 at 10:36 PM
It's honestly kinda impressive how quickly (and almost exclusively) people start rejecting the phrase "let people enjoy things" once people start enjoying things they in particular dislike.

Everyone complains about spellcheck until they make a mistaake.
