Yeah like, personally, and partly due to the lore that I operate in, I tend to stray away from the use of "WEREwolf" in any serious sense because of it's etymological origins to it just meaning 'man' in the human sense.

True, like... the physical transformation factor is the main thing that would qualify it as a werewolf character, even if they retain their mental capacity post transformation. Adding in the mindshift, though, would DEFINITELY sell it as a proper werewolf character.

I really do like these sorts of discussions. I know they can sometimes get really contentious and even a little frustrating, but it's still fascinating. Like what counts as a kaiju or what counts as a sandwich or a soup or whatever.

I still think part of an actual "werewolf" character HAS to be the transformation aspect in some way. Either they have/had a normal human form before transforming, or they have/had a different, smaller anthro-wolf form, otherwise it's just a different type of anthro-wolf.

Physically I associate "werewolf" with being exclusively digitigrade and generally larger and stronger and perhaps more thickly-furred and scraggly, while an "anthro wolf" is a lot more unrestrained in terms of designed. But...

Like I'm sure there's some people who could and would refer to a digitigrade wolf character as just being that, while someone else would have the same design and say it's a werewolf. Would you say that any distinction would primarily be a physical design thing? Aesthetic? ... Mechanic?
