I had a chance to visit San Nicolas Isl (the real Isl of the Blue Dolphins) in 2015. It’s a naval island so it can be hard to gain access for non-military people, but I went with a restoration group. Just before my trip there was an archaeologist who may have discovered Juana Maria’s cave.

CINP is a very unique national park experience since it’s so remote, not heavily visited, and since you need to take a boat there. You frequently see dolphins, whales, and sea caves on your way. There was also historic Native American habitation there. Check out “Island of the Blue Dolphin”.

I am here to defend CI National Park! It is 5 islands mostly untouched by modern humans. Many endemic plans & animals, including the very popular and cute Island Fox. Also serves as important breeding and nesting areas for pinnipeds and birds (including bald eagles). Super scenic and remote!
